The centralized control panel behind Active VirusScan SMB, ProtectionPilot guides you through the mystery of installing, monitoring, and managing anti-virus protection with clear, straight-forward tasks and wizard-based functions. ProtectionPilot also includes interactive monitoring, providing visibility into system compliance, virus activity, and software configuration.

Automatic, “hands-free” updating
With Active VirusScan SMB, you don’t have to worry about constantly updating systems to keep them current. ProtectionPilot ensures anti-virus coverage is always up-to-date by checking in with McAfee every hour for new virus updates. If any updates exist, ProtectionPilot retrieves them and automatically deploys them to all systems on your network, all without any manual intervention.

Leading anti-virus technology
The McAfee anti-virus scan engine stops every type of virus and malicious code threat, including “traditional” viruses, email worms, Internet worms, DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks, backdoor and remote access Trojans, and zombies. Using technology that drills down into compressed data, Active VirusScan SMB is also able to find hidden threats buried in .zip and other compressed file types.

Dedicated protection for NetWare® file servers
Active VirusScan SMB includes McAfee NetShield® for NetWare, which protects NetWare file servers through real-time scanning to detect and clean viruses and other threats. By caching file status when an initial scan is performed, NetShield ensures that clean files are not rescanned unless and until modified, significantly improving performance and efficiency.

Email protection
Email is often the entry point for viruses, worms, and other malicious code trying to enter the network. Active VirusScan  SMB protection extends to MAPI and POP-3 email formats, keeping users of Web-based email safe from mass-mailer viruses and other threats.

Internet filter
